Checking in so I don't forget!

Things I don't want to forget

The sound of my babies laughing together when I'm not even in the room with them.
Wyatt learning to pull his pants up by himself and being proud as a peacock about it
Wade jumping off the side of the pool at the Suit's at 8 months old!
Wyatt floating on his back, swimming, go under without holding his nose
How hot it is here in Indiana this summer- feels like a Tennessee summer without all the lush green scenery though
Wyatt is developing a little corny sense of humor that I LOVE!
They are so sweet to one another! I can only pray that they will be side by side forever!

Loss of childhood friend and neighbor

Death’s pain on those left behind is as physical as any we know.
Reared to know that time heals all
we sit and suffer together for now.
For now…. Just for now let us focus on our next breath.

With love, sympathy and tremendous sorrow

Bath time laughs!

http://youtu.be/HmXaIaDy3hE

Out of the blue your kids do something that cracks you up! Wade is generally quiet, pensive and sweet but every once in a while he let's loose a bit and laughs like a big guy.

Wyatt really likes making all of us laugh and smile and God bless him for it!

Super Sunday

Fantastic Day yesterday!

Slept in slightly 7a!
Church at Farmland Friends.
then the weather was great so some play time outside. Wyatt and I spent a few hours romping and picking up sticks. ( also stepping in dog poop UCK)
Then a lil family dinner a Cracker barrel. We tried to eat healthy ( our choices were good but they duped us on the food prep. Didn't ask the right questions =(. Lesson learned I guess.

Tonight is the Final game with Butler and UConn. Although I don't teach at Butler I do teach and 8am lecture tomorrow morning. I'm not sure I'll have a good turn out tomorrow =(.

Friday's are for FUN

What am I thinking today?
My boys really rock!
I really am going to finish this dissertation!
I don’t like being hungry- eating little bits all day long really is the way God intended.
I love working out for reasons that I can’t even explain
Although I adjust to change well I’m AFRAID of it
The theme to Elmo’s World is ridiculously catchy!

Good Ole Hump Day

sometime I get so involved reading other blogs that I run out of TIME to write in my own.

We are rolling along this week. MiMi started back to work this week so the normal added convenience of having a willing and available kid chaser is a thing of the past =(.
MiMi's sad. We're sad. It does stink.

This situation is also requiring that I be creative in order to continue working on my dissertation while spending as much time with the kiddos as possible.
I've decided to hire a mommy's helper to come a few times a week to give me a hand and more specifically to give me writing time.

An energetic student named Malia will be coming to meet Wyatt Friday afternoon!.
I'm excited to see how this goes!

Second attempt this week! woot

No No No.
No No No
It’s more effective if you say it in threes right? Wyatt walks around the house shaking his head and saying “ No No No”.
I think he is mimicking daddy! As I think of it though most of the big people in his life tend to say “no no no” OR the ever popular OH NO Buddy.
Wyatt is turning out words like a lil Mr. Webster these days. I believe he can say anything he wants to now when he’s willing =).

The rest of us? Glad you asked….
We have too many irons in the fire right now. So many that I’ve decided to pursue a mommy’s helper to be here with me a few hours a week so I can focus on writing all while not completely neglecting my babies. I am seeking an energetic student from BSU to come to our home and play, chase and entertain Wyatt. Before you judge me consider that I think it’s stinks some too. I would love nothing more than to be able to spend every moment engaged with my babies. The battle I’m fighting though is that I’ve started a doctoral degree program and DAMN IT I want to finish!
So it’s go time and I am making the choice to sacrifice a bit of my heartfelt desire to be all moms all the time in order to achieve this academic goal.
Eric??? So happy for him. He’ll be finishing his degree Dec 2011! He is applying to jobs across the country. (Several right here in Indiana). Although it is hard for me not ot be type A about his job search and the potential “move” it might imply I am trying my best to leave this one to a higher power. ( not like I have another choice really ? Right?)
For now I will say his success in this Endeavour could be bitter sweet.

Wade! 4 months old on 3-26! He’s just beginning to want to stand while being supported. Very strong lil roller and scooter though! Also doing really well at not wanting to EAT all night long. I’m not sure if he’s an easy baby or if we just know what we’re doing this time around. ( a little more anyway).

Wade is wonderful!

Let the Picture Parade begin!. I am going to work on my blogging skills thanks to a reminder from a long distance pal!
Here is Wade and all of his fabulous lil parts!

Start of Spring

Where are we?

Good question

We are in grand chaos!
Wyatt turned 2 this past Sunday. Such a fantastic time to reflect on the changes we’ve experienced over the last 2 years. Also a time to be overwhelmed when I think about what is to come.
Wade turns 4 months this week. The development of an infant is nothing short of amazing. I really want to capture and savor every new discovery with both my lil guys!
It seems overnight Wyatt learned all of the words for his body parts ( eye, nose, ears, toes, belly, etc) and we also discovered that he HATES the song “ Happy Birthday”. He will way-lay you as you try to sing it!
Eric is approaching the light at the end of the tunnel at BSU. After several semesters of “trudging” and TRUDGING through the academic hoopla he is approaching the end. Although he has come across some really enlightening professors and instructors the folks he’s had to choose for mentors within his department have been a little less than exciting ( or helpful). So he and I ( the power team of Brains and Bronze) have fully engaged in the job search. What an exhausting task it is!
So far so good. He has a tremendous amount of experience and completing only strengthen his vita!
So we’ll see what unfolds next!

Catching up!

It's been way to long since I tried my hand at this.

Little Wyatt is 18 months old and only 2 months away from being a big brother!
I'm terrible at taking baby belly pictures but will try to be better for the next few weeks!

This pregnancy has flown by compared to the first one. My favorite difference is that I have been able to keep my weight gain in check and have not gone off the deep end. At this point I'm also still able to exercise quite a bit! ( teaching 3 classes on 4 days a week!)

Over the summer we have had lots of first for Wyatt. I'll try to highlight the ones I've captured.

This was our first 1/4 marathon together.
Wyatt did great and really enjoyed the snack stations... Mama on the otherhand was good for 4 of the 6 miles and then got pretty sore. Hard to know your limits until you try right? We finished and then took great naps!

We also went to the zoo! Wyatt was cool with the zoo as long as he could be face to face with the animals. The big ones that had no interest in us were not that appealing! Pictured in the top!

We also went to Highland park in Kokomo to see the big stuff steered and play in the park.

First time on a swing! I think he liked it!

Good Ole Aunt Donna, Kayla, Matt and the kids came for a visit which was a BLAST.
She took Wyatt down the slide which was also pretty fun!

We also had a sweet 16 photo shoot!

Just a few of my favs

Updates and start again? maybe.???

Wyatt is now about a week from being 16 months old. He is a pistol.
I love all the little things that are seemingly inside jokes to us that wouldn't mean anything to anyone else.
here are my favs in no particular order.

1.) the cranky face he gives when he's not pleased - he's had this since birthday but can use it on command now.
2.) every fruit and vegetable he encounters is fine to eat however all of them are called " nana's" -every thing is a banana!
3.) When you say " get that dog" he pounces after Roxy the yorkie and she pounces away as fast as possible!
4.) He has two jobs at home for now...1.) to put dryer sheets in the dryer and close the door 2.) to put Roxy in her house as we are leaving home.
5.) He's really good at waving and saying BYE
6.) He LOVES to dance... he started out just squatting up and down with pretty rhythm but now he has some shoulder shaking and shemmies that are priceless.
7.) I loved that he quickly learned itsy bitsy spider and patty cake yet rarely wants to do them anymore... we may have worn them out!
8.) Loves ride on toys- when he sees his vintage international tractor he says " Boom boom boom" which means hey you....push me on this toy!
9.) he smells everything before eating it... maybe he was burned by something yucky in the past?
10.) When you change a stinky diaper he says " shew!"

Once every 6 months!

I have got to get better at this!
Wyatt Update:
Wyatt began walking well in Jan. He took his first steps on his dad's birthday and has never slowed down. NOW several months later he's a sprinter.
his sense of humor has developed nicely. He thinks he's funny and I do too!

Also firmly in place his is stubborn streak which tends to get stronger as he gets more tired!
He takes random moments to dance to whatever beat he hears and loves to sing songs at bed time.
It would be great to teach him baby signs using songs. I have easily taught him patty cake, itsy bitsy spider and ring around the rosies yet please and thank you have been more difficult.
We'll keep at it though!

BOO on me I'm behind

Wyatt is not 10 months old and more fun every day. He can say and sign many things including MA, DA, Mi Mi and is really good at shaking his head NO.
Some of the things he does are soo sweet.
For example... his cousin Max gave him a toy microphone that plays little midi tunes.
He'll start the mic to playing and lay his head down on your shoulder and say " ahhh".

He also LOVES playing Peek A Boo. He often starts the games between himself and others. he has to hear you say " Where's Wyatt though! Those are the rules.

He took his first unassisted steps on Dec 24th but insists on crawling when he needs to get somewhere fast!.
Foods he likes now include
Animal cookies
Vanilla Waifers
Corn
Peas
Squash
Carrots
Sweet potatoes
Regular potatoes
oatmeal ( big people kind)
Cereal (baby kind)
Yogurt (in moderation of course)

We are also still going well with nursing but he's beginning to wean himself. Which is bittersweet for momma.

My favorite part of my day is when I get back home and he insists that we snuggle, hug and relate for a few minutes before I do ANYTHING else at home. It feels good to love and be loved!

Wyatt 6 months

Wyatt is 6 months old as of yesterday!

It is indescribable how much his existence has changed me for the better.
He is now trying to crawl around ( rolling anyway) and loves to be talked too.
He really loves watching anything his dad does. Dad must be the coolest!!

I'm happy to rest in the idea that God's timing is perfect otherwise I would regret not having babies sooner! Despite my disdain for the state of pregnancy I would endure that a million times over to be able to know my lil boy.

He rocks!

5 months old

This past weekend Wyatt had two teeth "erupt". I thought that term was an interesting way to describe the process of teeth coming in. Erupt is a good term in that it causes some chaos and discontent for my little one.

Sherri and Travis came up to visit us which is always a fun time. We sat around the campfire and played " Going camping" with the neighbors.

At this point Wyatt is sitting up as much as he can. He even wants to sit up right in his swing while strapped in.
He's mastered rolling over in both directions and can move about the living room but I don't think he really knows where he's going yet!.

Wyatt 4 months and 3 weeks

Eric and I went whitewater rafting in West VA this past weekend. This was a picture I snapped of Wyatt upon our return. He stayed with his Mi Mi all weekend.
It went really well but has been a long time in the coming for me.

4 months old today

The past 4 months have felt both like a lifetime and a bolt of lightening all at the same time. The amount we have learned, changed, adjusted, readjusted, experienced, laughed at , cried at and felt has been transformational.
I have loved becoming a mommy. I love "loving" my baby!

Today
I noticed that his hair is much fuzzier than yesterday
I noticed his legs have lil hair on them
I noticed that he has dicsovered his feet and that they are almost as cool as his dad
I noticed that his cry to be readjusted in the bed is different from the feed me Seymour cry that I've become accustomed too
I noticed that he is quick to roll to his tummy but has not figured out that he can roll back!
I noticed that it is already going too fast and I don't want to miss a second!

Happy Independance!

Wyatt's first fourth of July! This is a special day for us as a fam!
Unfortunately it was way too cold and wet to do much of anything outside. We had been invited to a big fireworks show ( Thanks Leslie) however Wyatt was sound asleep in his crib well before dark. So maybe next year!

We spent some time with our neighbors ( who are great neighbors by the way) and then listened to the explosions from inside our house.

The sounds of small bombs bursting in air made me think about families who are less than excited to hear those types of things flying around their homes. I am thankful to not be afraid of impending bombs bursting overhead.

Can you imagine the type of celebration we would have had if chemical or bio warfare had been the flavor of the day back then?

Instead of sparklers and roman candles we might be dawning gas masks and eye wash bottles? Likely it would turn into a large water fight for celebratory purposes.

at anyrate I'm disappointed that the weather was cold and wet but since I'm not in control I guess I'll choose to roll with it =)
